Dada Jashan P. Vaswani will speak on the "Amazing Secrets of Happiness" at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Hughes-Trigg Student Center.

Dadaji, as he is otherwise called, is the spiritual head of a non-profit, religious and social-welfare institution, known as the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, of Pune, India

"Dadaji has been compared to the late Mother Theresa of Calcutta and is a true soul replenisher. His entire life is dedicated to bringing people together in unity and fellowship of spirit," said Lal Daswani, president of the DFW Sindhi Association.

"I feel it to be almost surreal, to finally meet a man such as Rev. Dada Vaswani, a true power source for good."

Indicative of what Dadaji has to offer are "mindlifters," a thought for every day of the month, on his site http://www.sadhuvaswani.org. A mindlifter for Sept. 29 is: "The man who is eager to reform himself has no time or inclination to criticize others."

"Vaswani offers a completely different way of confronting life’iacute;s little difficulties to people of all religions," said Troy Sherrod, humanities major and Fondren periodical library specialist.

Dadaji, born on Aug. 2, 1918, was also a brilliant student and was assessed Sir. C.V. Raman, for his master’iacute;s degree thesis on The Scattering of X-rays by Solids.

Although, Dadaji knew he had potential in this field, he chose to follow his uncle, Sadhu T.L. Vaswani, who founded the nonprofit organization.

"School can be stressful for everyone; I would encourage everyone to attend Dada Vaswani's lecture, so that each person can possibly learn innovative techniques to find their own happiness within," said Kris Daswani, SMU Indian Student Association president.
